Course Information

STA670, Advanced Topics in Bioinfoamatics, is the follow-up course to BIO540, Principles of Bioinformatics. This course will provide hands-on experience in methods of computer-assisted bioinformatics, with specific application to biological research. Building on the basic topics covered in BIO540, topics in this course will include:

Computer skills,
Algorithms and machine learning for bioinformatics,
Subcellular location,
Pathway reconstruction,
Phylogenetic analysis,
Hidden Markov Model,
SVM, SOM and Artificial Neural Network applications,
Protein structure analysis and prediction,
Microarray data analysis and
Computational proteome analysis.
