My research interest is in the field of data mining, machine learning and other statistical pattern classification models. This area of interest became more focused after working on various predictive tasks in bioinformatics, including secondary structure prediction, domain class and boundary prediction, as well as evaluation of sample bias in common protein datasets (primarily PDB.) This work led to a successful research project with Dr. Guda on protein subcellular localization prediction during the Spring 2006 semester, at which point I moved entirely into research. My current research is focused on development of predictive and explanatory models in various protein and DNA classification tasks at both the proteome and genome scale. I plan on extending this research toward development of classification models for any type of sequential data. Please see my

completely updated! UPDATE: As of August, 2006, I am no longer an instructor for the CS department. My last semester teaching was this past summer 2006 semester. Teaching these past three years has been a great experience. Special thanks to my past students, particularly to those that actually came to class. :-)
