THE CAPITAL BALLET COMPANY

The Capital Ballet Company is a semi-professional dance company, providing a rich environment for local dancers as well as a performing outlet for students. The company also presents lecture/demonstrations to student groups and performances to senior citizens and the handicapped. As part of its community outreach, the Capital Ballet Company has enlisted the aid of area businesses in providing tickets to groups of children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend live dance performances.

Guest artists Wendy Whelan and Nilas Martins.

The Capital Ballet Company celebrated its fifth birthday on December 11, 1995. Its creation and development are due to the talents and dedication of Founder and Artistic Director David Otto who, upon retiring as a soloist from the New York City Ballet, moved to the Capital Region with the dream of opening a school and forming a ballet company. The Capital Ballet Company is dedicated to fulfilling the highest standards of quality in the creation and presentation of professional ballet productions, and through this medium to encourage the personal enrichment and artistic excellence of its members and the economic, educational and social enrichment of the community in which it resides.
