Step-by-step guide to subscribe to the csi402 newsgroup using Pine:

1)  Once logged into eve, type "pine" at the command prompt
2)  Type "L" to access your folder list or use the arrow keys to select the 
    text "Folder List" in the menu and hit return
3)  Hit the down arow key to select your news folder and press return
4)  Type "A" to add (ie. subscribe) to a newsgroup.  You will get a message at
    the bottom of the screen saying "Enter newsgroup name or partial name to 
    get a list."   Type the name of the newsgroup you want to add. You want to
    subscribe to sunya.class.csi402 and sunya.class.csi402.announce, so type 
    the text "sunya.class.csi402"
5)  Since there are two newsgroups that start off with the name 
    sunya.class.csi402 (the other one is sunya.class.csi402.announce), you 
    are asked to pick one of the newsgroups to subscribe to.  Select the 
    newsgroup sunya.class.csi402  to subscribe to with the arrow keys and hit 
    return 2 times.  
6)  Repeat steps 4 and 5 but subscribe to sunya.class.csi402.announce instead.

You can access the newsgroups in pine by selecting "Folder List" from the main
menu and using the arrow keys to select and expand the news-collection folder.
