The Family STEAM night at the Guilderland Public Library is a monthly recurring event desinged for elementary and middle school students and their parents. The goal is to introduce children to various STEAM disciplines through invited talks/activities prepared by local colleges. The event lasts 1 hour and is hosted in the evening. Our goal was to introduce students to the inner-workings of the Internet. We began with a 15-minute presentation and QnA. Here are the SLIDES. We then played a game designed by cse4k12.org on How The Internet Works. We wrapped up our activities by disassembling cable modems, WiFi routers and phones to see how the Internet gets to our homes and devices.
