Dr. Pradeep K. Atrey's Brief Bio
Pradeep K. Atrey is an Associate Professor and the Undergraduate Program Director for Computer Science at the University at Albany, State University of New York. He also co-directs the Albany Lab for Privacy and Security (ALPS). Dr. Atrey earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Ottawa's Multimedia Communications Research Laboratory. His research focuses on security and privacy, particularly in secure cloud-based multimedia analytics, disinformation detection, applied cryptography, and social media analysis. He has published over 150 papers in leading ACM, IEEE, and Springer journals and conferences, with research funding from New York State, NSERC, DFAIT, and the Government of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Atrey serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including ACM TOMM, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, and Elsevier's Image Communication Journal. His honors include serving as Program Co-chair of the ACM Multimedia conference, receiving the Best Area Editor award for Image Communication Journal (2022), being named ACM TOMM Associate Editor of the Year (2015), and earning the Erica and Arnold Rogers Award for Excellence in Research (2014) and the ACM Multimedia Rising Star award (2015).
